Making Time for Yourself

Making time for yourself is important, but it takes a desire to create a life that you want and not try to please everyone else. If you allow others to take over your life and to eat up your time and space, you will never reach your destiny. You don’t have to feel guilty or selfish about making time for yourself, because time is something you cannot retrieve when you lose it to frivolous things that don’t empower you.

Taking time to nurture and pamper yourself is especially good for your entire outlook on life. You can get too busy sometimes in rigid routines that steal your dreams and your focus. Making time for yourself helps you to relax more and enjoy specific activities that bring you happiness.

Here are some things you can do that will make you feel good:

  • Get a  one-hour massage and facial
  • Get  your nails done
  • Take  an art, yoga, singing or dance class
  • Go on  a cruise
  • Read a book
  • Go to  the beach
  • Relax  in a Jacuzzi
  • Work  out a gym
  • Go to  a museum
  • Go on  a lunch date
  • Do  some meditation
  • Attend  a support group
  • Take  quite walks
  • Make sure you get six to eight hours of sleep
  • Eat  right
  • Go see  a movie
  • Go to  a basketball or baseball game or a concert
  • Spend  time alone just gathering your thoughts

You have to learn how to manage your time to include you. If you have a burnout or meltdown, then you won’t be any help to yourself or anyone else. Life can get very hectic and filled with unimportant things that are time wasters. Do not make any unrealistic promises to anyone or you have to push yourself harder to meet certain obligations. Be cautious in the decisions you make that will take up a lot of your time.

Make sure you build time blocks that will help you to manage your time better. Limit interruptions from others that will set you back. Develop ways that will help your family to contribute to household activities so you can free up some of your time.

Keep a daily “things to do” list that will help you to effectively organize your schedule and your time. Have a calendar that will detail your daily tasks. Get accustomed to setting specific time slots for yourself on a daily and weekly basis. Be sure to stick to your new routine. Don’t allow anyone to interrupt your new outlook on life.

Seek support from a coach, mentor or trainer, who will assist you to begin or maintain a particular schedule that is right for you, and you’ll get a lot more done in a lot less time. A trained coach is equipped with tips and skills that can affect your life in a positive way. Don’t be afraid to ask for help because this might be just what you need to get your life on a path to peace and happiness.

4th of July Style

It is that time of year again, fireworks, bbq’s, picnics, and socializing. A time when the heat can have a serious effect on style but, I am here to change that. As the temperature increases, our need to look fashion-forward goes out the window. Ladies we have all been there but I have a couple of ideas to help you look fabulous while keeping it simple and breezy!

Sundress to impress: A simple sundress is probably the easiest and most versatile outfit to wear in the summer. You can choose any style you want and you won’t have to worry about anything binding or sitting too close to your skin. This is for maximum comfort and minimal effort, just how summer style should be!

Bermuda baby: I absolutely love how Bermuda shorts have evolved over the years, they come in so many different fabrics that you are bound to find that perfect pair. I suggest linen or a cotton blend.

White Night: I know all of you ladies have a pair of white jeans that you love and now is the time to wear them. White jeans are perfect for summer festivities because they make you look beach-ready, and you can wear them with any top you own. White is a staple color for summer so wear them as much as you can!

Keeping these tips in mind, go find that perfect 4th of July outfit, with these looks, you are sure to be the firecracker in the crowd!

Summer Sandals

Along with hot days and poolside fun, summer brings some of the sexiest styles, but some of those styles just don’t do everyone’s body justice. I love these summer flat sandals but a lot of the styles make our legs look large and stumpy and can create a really unflattering silhouette if worn wrong. I am here to help! I have a couple of tricks to keep in mind that you can stick to when picking out the perfect pair of sandals.

Watch what’s happening to the ankle: If there is too much action going on around the ankle, it can cut you off and give you the appearance of a larger leg, especially if you are short. Opt for a thin strap around the ankle if you have to have one at all.

Sling-backs are your friend: The most attractive sandal is a sling-back because it keeps that elongated look in the ankle but keeps the shoe from sliding off. When shopping, look for this style to be your “classic or go-to” sandal.

Platform problems: Most women don’t think about this very often but the heel of the sandal can have a major impact on the way a shoe will look on your leg. I have seen so many styles with a slight wedge and a thick strap up the front and around the ankle that will make even the leanest women look stocky, so please stick to flat sandals. If you would like a bit of a raised heel for comfort that is fine but keep in mind the shape and height.

Walk a while: When searching for the perfect summer sandal, walk around in them for a while – don’t just try it on and look in the mirror. If you spend some time in them you will start to get a feel for any areas that may rub or cause a blister. I can’t tell you how many times I buy a gorgeous shoe and this happens.

This style can be very sexy if done correctly, so do not be afraid to try new styles and designs!
