The first is Pilates. If you are a runner, mother, golf or tennis player, you may have heard of this type of exercise and the benefits it provides. There are many people of varying fitness level who may have tried Pilates to improve their flexibility, posture, core strength, and range of motion. Making Pilates a part of your consistent regimen will result in more focused breathing and deep concentration.

You will become more aware of the way that your body is working. It teaches you how to stand tall. As you age, upper body strength is very crucial. The standing poses, particularly if you hold them for more than a few extended breaths, build hamstring strength as well as strength in your quadriceps and abdomen. Last, but not least is the Zumba exercise, which uses a variety of music and dance choices such as reggae and meringue.  The dances are fun, energetic and exhilarating. They incorporate interval training with deliberate and quick moves for shaping and toning the whole body. With Zumba, you target specific areas of the body such as the:

  • Legs

Some of the dance moves are so fast that it creates a cardio program that increases your heart rate and your metabolism. The music guides you to do hip swaying, toe tapping and arm swinging movements. Most dance routines will last for an hour, but you can go at your own pace. Your wardrobe should also match your hairstyle.  Older women will wear a shorter hairdo even if they have to cut their long tresses. It gives you a more classy and stylish look. Watch what your favorite celebrities in your age group are wearing. They are not always right, but close to it. Making time for yourself is important, but it takes a desire to create a life that you want and not try to please everyone else. If you allow others to take over your life and to eat up your time and space, you will never reach your destiny. You don’t have to feel guilty or selfish about making time for yourself, because time is something you cannot retrieve when you lose it to frivolous things that don’t empower you.

Taking time to nurture and pamper yourself is especially good for your entire outlook on life. You can get too busy sometimes in rigid routines that steal your dreams and your focus. Making time for yourself helps you to relax more and enjoy specific activities that bring you happiness.

Here are some things you can do that will make you feel good:

Keep a daily “things to do” list that will help you to effectively organize your schedule and your time. Have a calendar that will detail your daily tasks. Get accustomed to setting specific time slots for yourself on a daily and weekly basis. Be sure to stick to your new routine. Don’t allow anyone to interrupt your new outlook on life.

Seek support from a coach, mentor or trainer, who will assist you to begin or maintain a particular schedule that is right for you, and you’ll get a lot more done in a lot less time.
